Build Guide - PCB Assembly

If not done in the factory, cut the track on the component side at 'X' as indicated on the overlay

  1. Fit resistors, capacitors and trimpots
  2. Mount 16-pin header for LCD but do not solder
  3. Mount the LCD on to the 16-pin header and secure using the supplied spacers, nuts and screws
  4. Solder the LCD in to position
  5. Install the 40-way headers J101, J102 and J1304
  6. Install J104 placing the part in the pins marked '0' and 'R'
  7. Remove the nut, washer and 'stop ring' from the 2 rotary switches S1311 and S1312
  8. Rotate the switch wiper fully counter-clockwise
  9. Fit the 'stop ring' in to the position marked '5' on the switch body and secure with its washer and nut
  10. Mount the 8x pushbutton switches but only solder the centre pin. NOTE: the marking 'C NO NC' MUST be facing the bottom edge of the PCB (facing towards their respective designator marking on the PCB)
  11. Mount the all the pots but solder only the centre pin of each pot.
  12. Mount the 2x rotary switches but solder only the centre pin of each switch
  13. Insert the 3x LEDs but do not solder
  14. Fit the 3x Lens mounts to the front panel
  15. Offer the PCB assembly up to the front panel and guide all the components through their respective panel holes
    1. lower the panel until it is resting on the shoulders of the pots
    2. lower the panel until it is resting on the shoulders of the pots
  16. Use pot nuts and secure P101, P102, P120 and P121
  17. Starting with P121, reflow the soldered centre pin to allow the component to settle in a natural position as dicated by the front panel and then solder its remaining legs.
  18. Repeat for all remaining pots
  19. Moving to S1303, reflow its centre pin and ensure that the switch is sitting squarely to the PCB then solder its remaining pads.
  20. Repeat for the remaining switches
  21. Using their legs, guide the 3x LEDs in to their respective lens mounys and solder in to place
  22. Remove the front panel
  23. Solder a wire link as per the notes on the overlay between P111 and C101
